I am Remi, a Lithuanian painter based in London. I paint intuitively - no plans, no rules, just colour, shape and the freedom to let things be what they want to be. My work tries to capture the feeling of something familiar from real life, as if seen from distance - recognisable, but not quite right, and that’s exactly the point.
I am drawn to colour above everything - not as decoration but as feeling. What began as a need to paint faces and figures to express emotion became something quieter and more free. Emotion doesn’t need a face. It can live in a shape, a colour relationship, a mark that didn’t exist until it did.
I don’t name my work. Not because I can’t, but because a title would close something I want to stay open. The work means what it means to you - and that feels more honest than anything I could impose on it.
